A safe, effective treatment for small leg veins, thread veins and visible surface veins.
Vein Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a trusted medical treatment used to reduce the appearance of spider veins and small thread veins on the legs. It works by injecting a specialist solution directly into the affected vein, causing it to close down and gradually fade over time.
At CHEEK Medispa, sclerotherapy is carried out with a careful, clinical approach. Treatment is delivered by a registered nurse prescriber, following specialist mentorship with a vascular surgeon.
This treatment is ideal for suitable cosmetic leg veins and visible surface veins, with a full consultation required before treatment to assess suitability and check for any signs of larger underlying vein concerns.
What Can Sclerotherapy Treat?
Sclerotherapy is suitable for treating small cosmetic leg veins where injection treatment is appropriate.
- Spider veins on the legs
- Thread veins
- Small visible surface veins
- Areas of red, blue or purple veining
- Cosmetic leg veins suitable for injection treatment
A consultation is always required first to assess the veins, check suitability and ensure there are no signs of larger underlying vein problems that may need onward referral.
How Does It Work?
A very fine needle is used to inject a small amount of sclerosant solution into the vein. This irritates the inside of the vessel wall, causing the vein to collapse and seal.
Over the following weeks, the treated vein is naturally broken down by the body and becomes less visible. Several veins can usually be treated in one appointment, depending on the size and number of areas.
Treatment is usually well tolerated, with only mild stinging or discomfort during the injections.
What Happens During Treatment?
Your appointment will include:
- A full consultation and medical history
- Assessment of the veins being treated
- Discussion of realistic results and aftercare
- Precise injections into the visible veins
- Application of compression if required
- Clear aftercare advice before you leave
- £395 per treatment
Is Sclerotherapy Suitable For Everyone?
Sclerotherapy is not suitable for all veins or all clients. It may not be appropriate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain clotting risks, active infection, significant varicose veins, or symptoms suggesting deeper venous disease.
If your assessment suggests that your veins may be linked to larger varicose veins or valve problems, you may be advised to seek further vascular assessment before cosmetic treatment.

Vein Sclerotherapy FAQ's
When will I see results?
Sclerotherapy results are gradual. Treated veins can look darker or more noticeable before they begin to fade, which is a normal part of the healing process. Most clients start to see improvement over several weeks, with final results often developing over 8-12 weeks.
Will I need more than one treatment?
More than one session may be needed, especially if there are multiple areas or more widespread thread veins. This will be discussed at consultation, along with realistic expectations for your veins.
Is there any downtime?
There is usually minimal downtime, but aftercare is important. You may be advised to walk immediately after treatment, wear compression hosiery if recommended, avoid strenuous exercise for a short period, avoid hot baths, saunas and sun exposure initially, and avoid long-haul travel for a period after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Bruising, redness, tenderness, pigmentation changes or small areas of lumpiness can occur and usually settle with time. Full aftercare advice will be provided before you leave.
Is treatment suitable for varicose veins?
Sclerotherapy at CHEEK Medispa is for suitable small cosmetic leg veins and thread veins. If your veins appear to be linked to larger varicose veins or valve problems, you may be advised to seek further vascular assessment before cosmetic treatment.
How much does sclerotherapy cost?
Vein sclerotherapy is £395 per treatment. A consultation is required first to assess suitability and discuss the best approach for your veins.
